housewarming

Today's weather: Clear and 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
It's a beautiful day today

Last week, I had family come over to our new place for a housewarming party and I cooked for total of 11 people.  I've never cooked for that many people all by myself and I thought the more food the better it will be.  I made 잔치국수(cold noodle with vegetables), 닭도리탕(spicy chicken which turned out to be under seasoned), 수육 & 쌈(pork cooked with bean paste stew?), tomato garlic pasta (rachel ray's recipe), and bacon wrapped asparagus along with rice, kimchi, mini bell peppers with seafood spread as an appetizer, etc.  It literally took me the whole day since the morning to do this.  I think I was a little too ambitious in the beginning because I also was planning to have roasted vegetables and chocolate souffle made from scratch. Either way I couldn't do the last two anyway because at the last minute, I found out that our oven wasn't working.  The technician came to fix it; he simply turn on the pilot light on.  Note to myself: after moving in check the oven and ask to have the pilot to be turned on if it's an old oven/stove.

So right now I have in front of me a thick o-chem book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, and A Dual-Language Book for studying Spanish.  The first book is to preview for the o-chem class I'm taking this fall quarter, the second book is for happy summer reading, and the third is to improve and prevent from forgetting Spanish that I learned from High School.

That's all for now.
